Подробно описание

The Venn philosophy is to deliver cutting edge products using a combination of the most advanced composite product manufacturing methods and functional design, at previously unattainable price-performance levels. The initial products that embody this philosophy are the industry changing filament wound technology (FWT) carbon fiber composite rims – the Venn Rev series, and innovative composite rims made through an advanced manual layup process – the continuous tangent layup (CTL) rim series. Both the FWT and CTL rims are available under the Venn brand, or under your custom brand. In addition to FWT and CTL rims we also offer Venn or custom branded handmade wheels made with our rims and lightweight but durable hubs. The Venn Rev rims and wheels have already attracted industry praise, as well as a prestigious 2015 EuroBike Awards, 2015 d&i Award managed by iF Design forum, and 2016 Golden Pin Design Awards.

Our rim manufacturing technologies

Filament Winding Technology FWT Rim In filament winding, a continuous tow of fibers is passed through a bath of resin and wound onto a revolving mandrel by traversing longitudinally along the axis of the rotating mandrel. This results in optimal, continuous fiber placement under tension. The benefits – higher manufacturing uniformity, better performance and greater durability.

Continuous Tangent Layup The carbon fiber prepreg each preform follows a is laid up using a special continuous tangential tool and process to achieve relationship to the rim’s a single piece toroidal shape that matches the rim size and profile. The rim is therefore not composed of individual segments or patches. Venn CTL rims are constructed from a single piece rim specific carbon fiber prepreg preform. Circumference thus ensuring that the forces acting on the rim are always evenly distributed across all the plies and individual carbon fibers. CTL is a very high precision process

Key Benefits of Filament Winding over Manual Layup

Better quality and batch uniformity

Since filament winding is a machine managed process there are no random layup errors. Uncontrolled layup errors are one of the biggest drawbacks of the manual layup process. This leads to higher accuracy and precision and further contributes to our lower manufacturing costs.

The best method for manufacture of CFRP

Filament winding is theoretically the best method for manufacturing carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) as all fibers are placed under constant tension, in a single plane (cf. weaving which crimps the fibers) and in an optimal geometry that has no sharp bends or kinks. This results in the highest possible strength to weight and stiffness to weight ratios.

45 degree fiber bias

Our current winding pattern employs a +45/-45 degree winding bias which results in our rims and wheels having very high lateral stiffness (side to side), but lower than average radial stiffness (up and down). This results in wheels built with our filament wound rims being very stiff and responsive to acceleration, while enhancing road holding and lowering the occurrence of tire pinch flats or rim damage due to impact.

We are the only manufacturer in the world that offers filament wound rims. Thus, besides the performance and cost benefits that our technology offers, you also get a product that is distinct from every generic carbon fiber rim that is available in the market.
